Sucking Up???

As many of you know, I am an auditor, and as such I work with a "team" auditing a client at the client's office. Some how I got stuck on a team of five people, of which four are men. When I say stuck, I mean I will be working with them from now (actually I've been working with them since the beginning of October) until the end of April (or when I have the baby--whichever comes first). This dynamic makes for some really interesting work days and conversation topics. The conversations mostly include football, dirt biking, women, bars, beer, pick-up lines, guy-shows I've never heard of (or care to hear about--most of the time anyway), etc., etc. Naturally, this causes me to throw in my own girly and domestic topics, such as cooking, cleaning, hair, nails, clothes, and of course my baby/pregnancy. Because, after all, if I have to hear about their "stuff" they should have to hear about mine. Right??!!

Well, today was my boss's birthday, so of course I volunteered to make a cake for it. I felt these boys need some domesticity forced upon them. :) Besides, it might just go over well with the boss. :)

These "rough" boys were pretty impressed with the cake--they even guessed it took me 3 1/2 to 4 hours... which is pretty close (I'm kind of slow)! With this cake it was more of the color mixing and changing that made it take so long. Below is a picture of the big mess I make every time I make a cake. Fun huh?! It really isn't very fun to clean up. But I've found if I leave it long enough, Cody will do it... just kidding. :)

While we're on the subject, here are the other cakes I've made in the past few months:

My brother-in-law, Casey, moved down from Utah at the end of the summer--just in time for his birthday. I wanted to make him a cake so he could have a nice birthday away from home.

This one was for Cody's birthday - there is a whole post about it (if you didn't already see it).

And finally, our ward has about a million pregnant women right now with due dates from now until June. We threw a shower for one of them a couple weeks ago. The theme was "Bear" Necessities, so our refreshments included a bear cake.

Your cakes are darling Nicole! Great job! I am glad you are bringing a little femininity to your team, I think it is good for those men. I bet they especially appreciate you when you bring them yummy cakes! Way to keep a positive attitude.

Nicole you're going to have to teach me how to decorate cakes, I really want to learn how. By the way this is Kim not Jake, although it would be great if Jake learned how to bake a cake. Hahahahah! We need to get together with you guys, sounds like your baby is doing well.
