Little Tastes

After a whirlwind two weeks in Utah, Cody termed his stay "The Trip of Little Tastes."  While he was there for the first half of July, we spent a small amount of time doing a lot of different things, getting a little taste of this and a little taste of that.  I guess that is just the way it goes when he has such limited time there.

We started out with Baby Jack’s baby blessing.  He is Cody’s brother’s cute, cute baby.  IMG_1046

We were glad to get to see Aunt Betty at the party; Ridge liked her immediately! IMG_1043

Afterwards, the kids played in the ice cold water from the soda bucket.

We spent a day at Lagoon.  I think it had been around 10 years + since a lot of us had been there!  Maybe it’s just that I’ve been in dirty Asian cities for the last four years, but Lagoon seemed so clean with wholesome (and modest) patrons.  Not really how I remember it. It really is a fun amusement park!  We all had a blast!DSC01966 IMG_1072292445_10151269599008243_1014157500_n DSC01971 DSC01980 DSC01985 DSC02005

Winter’s dad was kind enough to let us stay at his cabin in Island Park for a weekend.  One of the days we went into Yellowstone.  What a beautiful place!!

When I was somewhere between 12 and 15 years old, my family went to Yellowstone.  I was so excited when we saw a buffalo up close, and I took (what I thought was) an amazing picture on my camera.  Later we went kayaking down a shallow river.  During one of the times my sister and I were trying to get unstuck, we tipped the boat dumping everything, including my camera with my beloved buffalo picture.  The film was ruined!  Finally, all these years later, I have some beautiful replacements!  I am a happy girl!DSC02011

My mom hosted a lovely dinner (complete with roast beef—the one food I was craving from the States) with my siblings that live in Utah (we were just missing Kristen **tears, sniff, sniff**).  DSC02082

Ridge and darling little Makayla (Charise’s baby).

My mom had put together a scrapbook for each of us with pictures of us as kids.  We sat on the couch for hours laughing and reminiscing.  It was so much fun; just like the good old days!!DSC02102

This was cute.  During one of our skype sessions in the winter, my parents were talking about snow.  Jade made a comment about it, so my mom told Jade she would save her some snow for when she came to visit.  One night she pulled it out and Jade had a blast throwing snow at everyone.  DSC02168

Cody and I were itching to get up in the mountains (and out of the city!), plus we really wanted to take our kids camping.  Consequently, we loaded up my dad’s truck for a super quick camping trip at Smith and Morehouse.  Oh, how beautiful it was up there!  I wish we would have had the time to stay longer!

Throw a temple trip, family pictures, errands, shopping, BBQs, restaurants, and more on top of all that and it made for a jam-packed two weeks!  I’m sure you can understand why Cody felt he only got a little taste of everything!

What a great vacation! I prefer little tastes of lots of things too, instead of a huge helping of just one thing =).
