A Little Trip

Last Monday we hopped on a boat for a short little ride to Macau. This time it wasn't to flee the country, but to have a mini vacay. Jadyn's new bear, Fuzzy (named by her), had to come along as well.
Even though Macau is only one hour away, it is still a different country, so we have to go through customs upon arrival. No exaggeration, we stood in line longer than it took to get there on the boat! Cody had an interesting thought: "How much money are the casinos losing while their customers stand in line at customs?" It may be worth them doing something about it (I'd be okay with it)!
Macau has been nicknamed Asia's Las Vegas. In the two years we were in Taiwan, they added a few more casinos to their repertoire, one of them being The Venetian. It is so similar to Vegas's Venetian it felt like we weren't in Asia anymore at all!

Cody was off work for Christmas; that's why we decided to go see Cirque du Soleil (the whole reason for the trip to Macau). The show was called Zaia (notice Fuzzy is still with us).
We weren't allowed to take any pictures during the show, but below is the tunnel as you enter the auditorium. Gets ya excited, doesn't it?!
We were sitting in the center section on the fourth row. Great seats! There was so much going on, we may have even been too close! It was incredible though. I loved every second of it. It just amazes me how people can be so perfected in one talent to perform such extraordinary acrobatics etc. At what point did that person know they were born to do such a thing? Jadyn was very much entertained throughout the whole thing too. Of course I was concerned how she would do, but like I said, there was so much going on, it definitely kept the attention span of a two year old. She loved it and talked about it for days after.

The next day we did a little site seeing before we headed back to catch a boat to Hong Kong.

See those mountains in the background? That is mainland China. So close, yet we can't go in without the appropriate visas. Bummer.

Love these two pictures, because as you can see, Fuzzy had to be in them. In fact, the first one, Jadyn made me wait while she went to get him and climbed back up the steps.

Then this one Fuzzy had to sit on one side and Jade on the other. I think she likes her new friend.

Macau is famous for egg tarts; a Portuguese pastry. Being the foodie that I am, we of course had to try them from the famous shops (even though I have had them many other times). Having tried them before just wasn't good enough. ;)
The bakeries were by the Sao Paulo Ruins, so we saw it again. Yes, I just said the pastries were higher priority than the 400 year old building. What are you going to do?
On our way along the narrow streets we (as in Cody) noticed a cool little shop selling wood items. Being the suckers that we are for cool Chinese crap souvenirs, it was no big surprise when we walked away with a new Chess set. An impulse purchase. But just look how cool it is! Please don't judge us.

I love your priorities. After all, who can appreciate history on an empty stomach?!
My sisters friend is a performer in one of the Cirque shows. She is a trapeze artist if I remember right, and seriously buff and trim. How cool huh?
I wonder if that is the same show coming here... sounds fun!

Looks like a fun trip and it looks so warm there I am jealous. loved that you priority was food rather than history--but hey, you can savor that for life, right?

Also, when we were in china we got one of those chess sets too. it is pretty cool!

Very fun trip. I really love your outfit. One of these days when we're in the same part of the world you'll have to go shopping with me. I have absolutely no sense of style. It's terrible. But I digress. Your trip looks like fun. I love all the pictures with and stories about fuzzy. That's too cute. And of course the egg tart is higher priority. I get ya. Also, that chess set is amazing and I'm a little jealous.
