It was very busy because of the holiday weekend, but it was still wonderful. The beach is about a 1 1/2 hour train ride away (after a 10-15 min. bus ride, then 10-15 min. subway ride to the Taipei Main Station). Not too bad at all (and totally worth it)!

We had a blast soaking up the sun, watching Jadyn play in the sand (she was much more interested in that than the water), body surfing, and making the lifeguards mad. The beach had a section of water roped off for the public, which also had a rope marking the no-swimming line. Problem is the water just isn't that deep, so for the good body surfing, we needed to go pretty close to the marker. The lifeguard didn't like that very much. If we got within fifteen feet of the rope, we would have whistles blown at us. We tried to ignore them, but the lifeguard kept blowing, pointing, and walking out closer to us. We could only ignore it for so long. Apparently the Chinese have some superstitious fear of the water and are scared for anyone to venture out very far. Jumping and riding the waves was a blast anyway. I was just going to get in to get wet for a minute, but ended up having so much fun I stayed out body surfing for quite awhile. I got so into it I even lost my sunglasses. Again, totally worth it!

That is so cool. I am jealous you have a beach. I want to go! I love the sandy bottom!
Whoa, it looks like so much fun! I love the little sandy bottom picture. She's just adorable! To be honest, the "commute" that you have to take to the beach is amazing. I think I take my car too much for granted. I'm glad it was all worth it, even losing your sun glasses.
So fun! It is a good thing Cody didn't discover this beach on his mission.... it would have just made him sad!
Lots of fun in the sun!
