1. Our tickets home for Christmas apparently were not ordered yet. We were on a waiting list as the flight was full. Cody's HR department didn't bother to tell us right away for some reason. Luckily we were able to buy tickets for the Sunday flight. We're coming a day later now, but it is definitely better than never!
2. Cody has been working a ton! When he arrived here he was told some of the big shots from Hong Kong were coming in to see a presentation on the Taiwan office's status. Naturally, the GM decided he, Cody, and two of the other managers should have meetings everyday at 5:30 p.m. to prepare. Well, the presentations have since come and gone, but the nightly meetings have remained. Lovely.
3. Two weeks ago we were signed up to move into our apartment on November 15 (would have been last weekend). The landlord was just going to have a few cabinets removed and the apartment painted and cleaned for us. When he walked in the apartment one day, he realized ALL the cabinets and closets had been removed. See the before and after pictures below (please note this is only two of the five cabinets they removed, but they all looked basically the same).
This pushed our move-in day back to November 22. Although we were anxious to get into our own place, it turns out it was a good thing because we had to pick out furniture to fill the apartment. We sold (or gave away) all our furniture before we moved from Phoenix, so we needed to rent a furnished apartment. The apartment we are moving into was not originally furnished, but the landlord agreed to give us a budget with which to buy furniture. I have been to IKEA and Lea Lea about a dozen times between the two of them in the past few weeks. Not to mention all the time I have spent on their websites trying to pick out furniture to stay under budget! What a nightmare it has been, but it is done and we are set to have furniture delivered on Friday and move in on Saturday. We are so excited! We will finally have a place to call home for awhile!
4. A couple weeks ago we found out our shipment still hadn't left Phoenix. Apparently the entire load had to be reinventoried or something. Incredibly irritated, I called up customer service and within a few days our shipment was on its way. My one suggestion: don't use Berger Allied if you ever have to move overseas (or anywhere for that matter). Our understanding was that the shipment would take six to eight weeks to reach us. This would mean anywhere from December 14 to December 28. Well, guess what? We are going to be in Utah December 21. We were incredibly worried our shipment wouldn't arrive until after we flew home. That is a big problem since ALL our winter clothes are in the shipment. Oh, and I have a baby quickly outgrowing her 0 to 6 month clothes. At this point they are telling us the ETA is December 4. You better believe I will be on the phone in the coming weeks to make sure that happens!
Overall, everything seems to be working out for us (just like Mom always tells me, "everything will work out"). However, I'm still concerned about our shipment. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

How extremely frustrating!! We will be praying for your shipment to come on time. Your apartment looks beautiful, how fun that you got to pick out a whole house full of furniture!
Keep Going Nicole!! We will be praying for you guys...just remember Heavenly Father knows the exact experiences we need to grow---even if they seem pointless and frustrating at the time:)And your apartment looks beautiful!! Can't wait to see you guys and kiss Jadyn's cheeks!!

Nicole. Oh my goodness it's so good to hear from you. That's crazy you found us on google. So, it sounds like you live in Taiwan. That's great, and you were in Hong Kong. Wow! My brother learned Chinese with the hope of moving to China. He and my parents went there this past summer. They said it was really hot--mostly in Beijing.
Cameron and I are living in Arizona. So, we just missed you:( That would be so much fun if you still lived here. We lived in Boston for the summer while Cameron did an internship, but we decided that Boston was too far away for anything permanent...now I feel whimnpy compared to you. China is quite a trip.
Your little girl is adorable. Motherhood is fun huh! It keeps me so busy. Before I became a mother, I was worried that I would be bored, that hasn't been the case at all. In fact, it would be nice to be bored once and awhile. And, we're having a baby girl in 2 months. Exciting huh!
It sounds like things have been tough. But, I know everything will work out for you.
What is Cody doing? Does he enjoy his work?
Keep in touch. My email is camtamking@gmail.com
Man, that is ROUGH! I'm excited for you guys to have a more permanent(ish) place, though, and I look forward to seeing pictures of your furniture. BTW, how long will you be in Utah? I'll be there from Dec 23-Jan 6. If you have time, I'd love to see you guys, but I know you'll have a million people saying the same thing. :)
Nicole! I was so scared that you weren't coming when I read your first part. I feel better now. What a crazy few weeks though! Your apartment looks great... and I'm sure it will be much better with all your new furniture. Even though it's been a pain, I'm sure you're great style will come through. I'm excited to see it. And wow... we'll be hoping as well that your shipment gets there in time! Hang in there!!!
