Vacation's Over

Because Cody's parents came over to Hong Kong with me, we decided I should just treat the first week here like vacation. We had a whirlwind of a week packed with site seeing and street markets! Caution: This is long; proceed at your own risk.

Monday we took the Star Ferry to Nathan Street to do some shopping.

Jadyn riding the Star Ferry

Then we watched the Light Show from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.

Tuesday we took a tour of the following:

Man Mo Temple

Victoria Peak via the Peak Tram

Aberdeen Fishing Village via sampan

Stanley Market

Wednesday we went on a Harbour Tour on the Star Ferry and went to the market on Nathan Street again.

Thursday we went to the "Ladies Market" in Mongkok.

Friday we went back to the Peak to see the view at night.

Saturday we went on a tour of the New Territories:

Yuen Yuen Institute: A religious complex which includes Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist temples.

Tai Mo Shan: Hong Kong's highest mountain

Fanling Walled Village

Sam Mun Tsai Fish Farming Zone

We ended the evening with a stop at a night market on Temple Street.

Sunday we had to say a sad farewell to Paul and Christy. There are three things I learned from this week: 1. everyone needs to visit Hong Kong at least once in their life 2. Hong Kong has a lot of not-so-good food (more on that later) and 3. I have the best in-laws ever (well, I already knew that, but it was reaffirmed yet again).

At this rate I will be 179 years old by the time I have visited all 50 of the world's top destinations; Jadyn will be 12 1/2. (Calculate yours here.)

Wow, what a fun week, looks like you guys are having so much fun. I love that Cody's parents came over, that is awesome. Nicole, I bet with Jadyn, you'll get your parents over as well sometime soon! So, is it super humid there? I notice your hair was curly in a few of the pictures, it looks cute! And Nicole - I can't believe you just had a baby, you look amazing. Keep having a ton of fun!

What a fantastic experience! IT would be so fun to see all the sites in person.

Whoa. For some reason, all of your pictures makes it so real that you're there. I guess you weren't just tricking us. :) What an incredible place and great work on your pictures. It makes me want to come visit. I'll just show Dave and we'll probably be on a plane next week.
