Dear Santa

A few weeks back, Jadyn and I sat down to write Santa a letter.  It was a good afternoon activity; she loves anything that involves paper, markers, glue, tape, scissors, etc.  Her Santa letter really was just that—an afternoon activity—as “Santa” had purchased her Christmas gifts back in July when he was visiting Utah.  I had her dictate to me what she wanted and I tried to write it exactly how she said it.  Jade is a girl who doesn’t go to stores with toys in them very often nor does she see commercials, so I don’t think she really knew what she wanted.  How is she supposed to know?  She is three years and eight months old so should she even know? I don’t know.  Anytime someone would ask her what she wanted, the answer was always different.  So on this particular day, this is what came out of her little mind (she was struggling remembering the “d” in her name, so she had to keep starting over):

On Christmas Eve Eve we took Cody’s parents on a tour of the Christmas decorations in Central.  The first stop was a visit to Santa Claus in Pacific Place.

This Santa was NOT well trained.  He takes a good picture, but he didn’t play the part very well!  He was probably the most deadpan and insipid Santa ever!  There was no “Hello, what is your name?” or “What would you like for Christmas?  Have you been a good girl?”  The Santa in A Christmas Story was better than this guy.  Just a nod to take the photo and a goodbye.  LAME.  I had prepped Jadyn that she would get to tell Santa what she wanted, but I expected him to at least ask.  Instead of the expected cute conversation, I had to initiate the questions and conversation.  Made for an awkward experience.  Ridge didn't seem to care for him much either. Oh well, Jade didn’t know any better and she was plenty excited about meeting him and getting a bag of candy regardless.

Here are a few other fun Christmas sites in Hong Kong, not already posted:

These were the Christmas lights on ICC that we could see from our apartment window every night (the "2012" is on IFC). How cute is that?!
