Odds & Ends

This is one of those inevitable update posts with a few of our goings-ons from the past few weeks.

At the end of May, a friend at church that works for the State Department was able to snag tickets for Cody to take a tour of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier.
A video of the ship.

Because Cody didn't have the time to do a post about the tour, you get my very watered down version of it (leave your boos and hisses for not getting a Cody-post in the comments please). It is in fact THE aircraft carrier that buried Osama Bin Laden's body at sea. The carrier was passing through HK for refueling, supplies, and whatever else on its way back to the good ol' US of A.
This is my man in the Captain's chair.
The tour was in the morning and when it was over Cody was--shall we say--less than excited to go sit at a computer and do market research on elevators. He also asked himself, and then me, "so why am I not in the air force/navy?"
It sufficeth me to say Cody loved every minute of his time among the jets aboard the USS Carl Vinson.
Our branch had a lovely little social at South Bay beach a couple weekends ago. We had a good time chatting with people from church, and Jade had a blast running around playing in the sand with all the kids. These pictures are of Jade with her super cute friend, Nora. Funny faces! That's the latest: Jadyn loves pulling faces for the camera! And apparently so does Nora! Must be the age.
My CTR 7s in primary completed their reverence chart, so we had a little class party last week. I finally had a reason to try the glacé icing recipe on Our Best Bites that Kay introduced me to years ago. I'm pretty much sold. So many possibilities with this stuff!!
Jadyn continues to enjoy snatching the camera every chance she gets. Not surprisingly her request is for us to pull funny faces. Quite surprisingly, one time she wanted me to turn around so she could take a picture of me from the back. Nothing like a photo like that to let you know your butt's getting big.
Jade has a couple friends her age in our apartment complex--one that is one week older than her (Sammy) and one that is one week younger than her (Emma).
It makes going to the park on the 5th floor that much more enjoyable!
As for me, I have been developing a new talent--well, ever since we moved into this place, actually. Dish stacking. That's right. It seems it is the only "talent" I have time to develop as of late. But trying to look on the upside, I'm getting pretty good at fitting two sinks full of dishes all in one dish drainer. Now if I could just get good at getting them washed in a timely manner...
Our previously mentioned friend, Sammy, and her auntie (helper), Leini, go to the Hong Kong Central Library every Wednesday to play at the Toy Library.
We started going with them last week and went again today. We quite enjoyed it. The kids get to play for about 50 minutes and then we find books to check out and take home.
Jade insisted she carry all the books all by herself. Such an independent little thing. For better or worse.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Codyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I can't believe you didn't post. Lame. Luckily you have an awesome wife who will do it for (read: better than) you. Although I didn't watch the video because those big ships give me the creeps. Eek.

Jadyn is so cute with all of her poses and faces. And I'm super disappointed that we weren't privy to the rear-end shot. But a post is a post, so I'll take what I can get! :)

Looks like so much fun! Love the CTR cookies. They're adorable. We just ate a sort of new place in Chandler called China Magic Noodle, very authentic, and I thought of you.
