Luckily, Independence Day fell on a Saturday this year, so Cody had it off. We started our day with the Robinson's at Fulong Beach (same beach as last time). It was a perfect day: clear blue skies and a bathwater-warm ocean. Until about 2:30. Then it started to rain. We rushed to get packed up, but we were too late. It POURED on us so hard! It was seriously like taking a shower outside. If we didn't have babies and bags to keep dry, I would have loved to just run around in it and stomp in the puddles. It was still pretty awesome though.
{Best seat on the beach; Surfing practice.}

{Running in the sand with Lizzy.}

We decided we should have a BBQ, but we took the easy route and went to dinner at the local hamburger shop, Mary's Hamburgers. Cheeseburger, fries, chocolate milkshake... how much more American can you get???
After dinner we headed to the 4th of July celebration (where a Chinese man wished us a "Happy National Day") at the Miramar department store. They had little games, a punk rock band (of course, because an all-Chinese punk rock band couldn't get any more American), and great patriotically American posters--all in Chinese.

At 9 p.m. there was a 233 second firework show, commemorating U.S.A.'s 233 years of freedom. Short, but still so much fun. I really can't complain; I got to see fireworks on the 4th. I am one happy U.S. citizen. Our U.S.A. Independence Day was certainly the best I could ask for in a country that isn't America. We had a blast!

I love Jadyn's shoes. They are so cute.
So cool Nicole. I'm glad you got to celebrate with fireworks and a trip to the beach. That's a nice addition to the celebration.... a little time in the sand... before the major downpour that is. Happy Fourth and way to celebrate in Taiwan! (p.s. Jadyn's little sandals are adorable!)
