Today I Almost Cried

For a reason I never would have expected. I was on my way home from a fun day at the history museum with some great friends. As I strolled on the footbridge between the Star Ferry Pier and the Central MTR, I looked out at Central. I saw the IFC, the land reclamation, the skyscrapers, the red taxis zooming around the streets. And I felt sad that we are leaving this place. I felt sad that I won't be riding the Star Ferry again for a very long time. I felt sad that I have to say goodbye to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. I felt sad that I won't be going site-seeing here next weekend. I felt sad that I will have to learn my way around a different city. I felt sad that I'm leaving wonderful friends all over again. I felt sad that our little adventure in this amazing city is coming to an end. I felt happy that my husband gave me the chance to have this wonderful experience. What an extraordinary place this is. I am going to miss it.
