Probably once a week or so we pass the trains at the Whippany Railway Museum on our way to Costco, Target… etc.… Each time, Ridge is excited to see the trains! We have always wanted to visit the trains and museum, but they are normally only open on Sundays. A few times a year, such as Easter and Christmas, the museum opens up on Saturdays and offers train rides on the weekends! We were excited to finally have a chance to see the trains!
Yesterday we took the Santa Claus Special excursion train. After picking up our tickets, we had some time to view the trains, museum, and model trains.
Everything was decked out for Christmas with wreaths, garland and bows. It was so darling!
The boys were entranced by the model trains.
Pretty soon Santa was on his way and it was time to board the train!
Once aboard, all the kids were excited to look out the windows, but the boys couldn’t be peeled away.
Santa Claus came through the train visiting with the children. I thought it was pretty successful that Tanner didn’t scream as soon as Santa had him in his arms (remember Ridge at this age?)!
Then train cookies were brought through for purchase. Tanner was beyond thrilled to have a piece! It was so cute!
The train ride was 45 minutes long, leaving from and returning to the museum. I was worried about ornery children as it was right during nap time. On the contrary, the ride turned out to be a really fun experience! Tanner’s reaction probably made it the best. He loved watching out the window and bouncing around on the seat. He was excited the entire time and it was adorable! Ridge liked it just as much, but after awhile the slow and steady swaying of the train lulled him into a slumber. Daddy got some good cuddle time!
The day was considerably warm with blue, sunny skies. On top of that, the whole family really enjoyed the Santa train! It was a fun way to spend a Saturday in December!
