Day O’ Green

We had a simple and fun St. Patrick’s Day.  A couple weeks ago Cody requested “green velvet” pancakes.  Although I determined not to make them again for awhile, his wish is my command (that’s just how much I love him), so I did anyway.  They really are just like eating chocolate cake for breakfast.  No wonder Cody loves ‘em.  DSC01033

That evening we were delighted to have the Hawkins join us for a green dinner.  These are our cute boys, Calvin (2 years) and Ridge (4 months).  DSC01039

Calvin really is so sweet with Ridge.  Calvin and Nora were also so thoughtful to make Ridge and Jade St. Patrick’s Day cards. Too cute.

For dinner we had chicken pesto pasta, rosemary focaccia in the form of rolls reminiscent of shamrocks (at least that was the idea), and the yummy broccoli salad Betsey brought.  DSC01044

We only have four chairs to our dinner table (I know, sad), so the kids got to have an indoor picnic.  They didn’t mind!

For dessert the kiddos had green rice krispie treats and we adults enjoyed key lime pie (and also green rice krispies treats--I’m not going to lie, we may have doubled dipped on dessert).

Afterward the kids went on a quick and easy treasure hunt to find the pot of gold.  DSC01049  DSC01050DSC01052

We love having such fun friends live so close by!  Hope you all had a great St. Patrick’s Day!!
