Labor Day Hike

This post is a little overdue, but "our" internet hasn't been working so well lately. Better late than never right??

During Labor Day weekend we went on a hike to Cold Springs, near Payson, Arizona. I was so thrilled to get Cody outside in nature before he had to start back at school. He brought up a cruel realization a few weeks ago: he hasn't been fishing, skiing, wake boarding, or hunting this year, nor has he played baseball, hockey, or any other sport for that matter (oh, wait except tennis once). It makes me so sad what school (and an extremely hot summer) interferes with. But we were able to pester a couple friends enough times to convince them to spend the day hiking with us. It worked out so great because Cody had a friend to be adventurous and go rock climbing with and I had a friend that was pregnant, so I could used it as a cop-out to not do any of the hard stuff. :)

We started off the day with a picnic in the rain at the Payson park. Then we hiked to Cold Springs--and I will tell you it is not named that for nothing! I had to count to three almost fifteen times before I could finally get Shannon to jump in with me!! Boy was it cold, but such a nice change from the over 110 degree heat. After the short hike to Cold Springs, we decided to venture off to find the "waterfall" that apparently Sam knew was around there somewhere. We never did find that waterfall, but we did see a lot of other really beautiful sites.

(By the way, if you scroll over the pictures in the slide, you can see the captions. If it doesn't work, click on the slide once and then it should.)

That post made me laugh. I need to get mine up! :) I love that you included Sam's pink bag. He'll be so happy! I also have to say, people say pregnant women have a special "glow" and that they are the most beautiful people. Well I'm here to say, those people are liars! Did you look at those two pictures of me? Wow! I didn't even recognize myself. I guess the bug picture is payback for the food picture I put up on my blog. :) Anyway, those pictures are awesome. That was so fun and beautiful. Thanks for coming out with us. And thanks for making me get in the water finally. We'll have to do this again soon. Or maybe next time it will be some camping!

I am totally jealous. That looks like so much fun. I miss the mountains SO much. That slide show is pretty cool. Our blog is so boring compared to yours.
