The City Different

A mix between Flagstaff, Seattle, and an old Native American town? That might be a good way to describe Santa Fe if "The City Different" doesn't cut it. Flagstaff because of the small town feel and unique shops, Seattle because of the chill, hippie, art culture there, and an old Native American town because of the Native American influenced architecture. The city is inundated with art and culture. So of course I loved it! Everything but the working part. I had to go there to audit one of our clients. Once we got through the days, the nights were amazing! I would love to go back there with Cody, but I just don't know that he would enjoy it as much. You'll understand why after I tell you what we did there.

The first night we went to see "Cosi Fan Tutte" at The Santa Fe Opera. I had never been to see an opera except for a local production or two in Logan, Utah. This was a little different. :) It was absolutely amazing! The architecture was extraordinary, the orchestra was excellent, the stage sets were beautiful, the costuming was gorgeous, and the singing was outstanding. The only complaints are that the theater is partly oustide (see above picture), so it got to be quite warm and the show was three hours long. The characters took a really long time to say anything!

The below picture is the only one I took before getting reprimanded for taking my camera out "past the gates." It is of the side of the theater, out at the view of the sunset.

The next two nights we went to some cool, unique places for dinner and then walked around the town to check it out. I even tried Tapas for the first time (which I think was one of my favorite things about the trip). Here is a little bit of what we saw in Santa Fe:

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is also in Santa Fe, so we paid a quick visit to it our last day. It was a really neat experience. Here is a photo of the museum, and below it, a photo of Georgia O'Keeffe that we saw while visiting the exhibit.
