While we were in Bali, we scored this awesome monkey skull mask. It is probably supposed to be some sort of Hindu god, but it was the middle of October and I had Halloween on my mind when I spotted it. Therefore, it gets to team up with the rest of our Halloween décor. ![]()
Large, carving pumpkins are rare and expensive here, so we stick with visiting the local market and painting the small ones.
Such concentration for such a masterpiece.
Jade gets the scholastic book orders at her school. Pretty cool, huh! I was pretty excited when the first one came home in her bag last year. I’m always a sucker for the holiday books, but especially the Halloween ones!
Speaking of school, Jade’s does not celebrate Halloween. I’m still a little irked by this! :) How can they call themselves an international school and not celebrate Halloween?!! Instead the theme of the week was orange. Jade took it upon herself to draw an all orange picture on orange scrapbook paper to take for show and tell.
The day before our branch Halloween party, we had a play date with some of our friends from church. We adults decided we should all dress up for the party, so we pulled out my Halloween costume box to get inspired. After everyone went home, the kids and I had some more fun with the wigs…
With the Bali trip in the middle of October, I didn’t have enough time to make costumes. Instead I bought an Alice in Wonderland costume and embellished it with ribbon and homemade accessories to convert it into Miss Muffet. Here is the Before and After.
The morning of our branch Fall Festival, Cody and I brainstormed. We still hadn’t decided if we were in fact going to dress up. What could we dress up as?? We dug through our costume box… thinking… discussing… aaaannnnnd finally. We decided to be zombies at a masquerade. We love dressing up way too much to pass up the opportunity this year! ![]()
I absolutely adore my man for loving this as much as I do.
And we thought we got stared at on the streets of Hong Kong before...
The fall festival was awesome, as usual. Our primary president does an amazing job. Dinner, magic show, carnival games, trick or treating. The works.
On Halloween night, a friend in the branch invited everyone to her neighborhood for dinner and trick or treating. When I say neighborhood, that is exactly what I mean. Actual houses lined up along streets. A rare sight over here. Even better though, they are row houses, so it makes for a quick and easy candy haul.
This was our kids first time trick or treating door to door at actual houses. Wow it was fun! Really, really fun.
Before we got started, Jade enjoyed figuring out how to pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters.
Ridge enjoyed the food.
Then we were off. All the houses participating were decked out.
And I mean decked out.
Ridge was pretty entertained by all that was going on.
Such a fun, fun night! Hope you all had a great Halloween too!!
