Each week Jade’s class learns about a certain theme. They typically have a coordinating craft, show and tell, food, and/or dress up day.
The week of Dr. Seuss’s birthday they read some of his books and made hats and bow ties.
I thought it was pretty cute to see several cat in the hats peering out the bus window as they drove up after school.
Each day Jade takes a snack to school. I think she typically tries to eat it with at least one of her school BFFs: Liam or Luvella.
One week had a theme of “opposites,” so Jade took in a representation of small and big for show and tell. Her teachers say she is confident and loves to speak and share during circle time.
Every other week on Thursdays, Jade’s class travels to another location for gym days.
Obviously the next pictures are of the Chinese New Year party in class. There has to be about 20 of these group photos—none of which have a majority of the kids looking at the camera.
Don’t know what Jadyn’s yelling about, but I find it pretty humorous!
Pin the tongue on the snake.
Birthdays are celebrated in class, usually by a parent bringing in cake and/or goodie bags. Liam’s birthday was last month.
The birthday person gets to choose who will be the sun while the class sings, “the earth goes ‘round the sun, the earth goes ‘round the sun, the earth goes ‘round the suuuun and Liam turns one…” and so on until you get to the child’s new age. Yes, Liam is older than Jadyn by a few months, yet she is much taller.
Parent teacher conferences were also last month. I figure this is typical, but Jade’s teachers had only good things to say about her. In short, they said she is focused on her work and activities during class, is helpful and kind to other students, is well liked by the other kids, and is learning well. Her new, exciting endeavor is that she is learning to read. What a thrill as a parent to hear her put sounds together and figure out the words!
