I’ve wanted to write about our appliances breaking and what an ordeal it was with the repairmen and the weeks it took to get things fixed.
I’ve wanted to talk about being a mom and how busy it is! I’ve wanted to complain about chores and not having a dishwasher. I’ve wanted to talk about the kids—especially Ridge’s development. I’ve wanted to share how fun it is to take Ridge to the park and how much he loves the swing! I’ve wanted to share the video of an android in the mall that looked so real I first thought she must be a famous Chinese singer because of the crowd she was gathering. I’ve wanted to talk about getting some clothes tailor-made and what that entails. I’ve wanted to share some yummy recipes, especially the Udon noodles Lenny taught me to make. I’ve wanted to talk about so many things, but alas, the busy life of a mother doesn’t allow for it right now! Instead here is a picture dump from the past couple weeks.
Lenny trying to teach Ridge to walk.
Ridge at 7 months old (June 4th). When my sister saw this picture, she said he needed a haircut. I agreed. Shortly thereafter Ridge had his fifth or sixth haircut—I’m losing track (what can I say, I just can’t stand stringy baby hair)!![]()
Ridge being the busy boy that he is: pulling books off the shelf, pulling himself up to the TV table. You know, just trying to figure the world out.
As Ridge was learning to sit up, I realized he would sit and play longer if I sat him there with toys as opposed to him playing on his belly. It was nice for maybe a week. He has since figured out how to crawl out of the sitting position and it doesn’t quite work as well anymore.
Ridge has four more teeth on the top. This picture of his teeth coming through makes me cringe; doesn’t it just look painful!
He looks way too grown up now. I’m not sure I like that. ![]()
Jade and Ridge are interacting more, which makes it more fun for Jade to play with her brother. It is nice except yesterday Jade was so excited that she figured out she could carry Ridge around. Ummm that’s not really okay with me. What is nice is that when Ridge pulls himself up to something, Jade will sit down behind him so that when he inevitably falls, he will fall safely into her lap. ![]()
Each week Jade’s school has a theme. A couple weeks ago I think it was a review on the countries they’ve learned about this year. As such on dress up day the kids were supposed to dress in clothes from their country. ![]()
Jade also took in a book about America for show and tell. ![]()
Another week the theme was on hair, so instead of a dress up day, they had crazy hair day. I tried to do this cute hair-do from my very talented friend’s blog, but alas, I’m not quite as talented and it definitely turned out looking more crazy than cute. Also, Jade was late for the bus because it took me so long to do. I loved loved loved Liam’s afro though. Why didn’t I think of that? It would have saved me so much time and frustration! ;)![]()
This week’s theme was summer, so the kids dressed in summer clothes, and today Jade brought home this cute little project. ![]()
Tonight we had chicken parmesan for dinner. The only thing momentous about that is I decided to let Ridge try eating what we are eating (not just an individual pureed item like carrots etc.), so even he got to have some!
We can tell if Ridge likes a food, because he will actually open his mouth to let the spoon in if he wants it. He did pretty good with his first “real meal.” He almost finished all of it!
I also have some videos to share. I’ll try to get them on here before we leave for Utah next Saturday!

Nicole, he is Ander's protege'! Which is a polite way of saying, he's a doll, and also that I feel your pain and most importantly, you are in big, BIG trouble :) I'd say you have 4-6 months before you are going to need to be sure you have some sort of serious lock down on your windows, as he will leave no inch unexplored and no lever unturned!
